Everyone has a story that should be heard. I'm here to collect.

Ava Lanche // Drag Queen

The lovely Ava Lanche

Drag is fun, colorful, sexy, aggressive, and playful. It is one of my favorite forms of expression because it says fuck you, let's go have fun! Needless to say, I was over the moon when a performer reached out to share her story with me.

The conversation starts with me, (speaking far too quickly and saying 'like' way too much), sharing my first experience at Moon Baby's Drag Opera where my guest Ava Lanche played bass in the band.

We then weave through Ava's short but action packed history as a performer. She is at the beginning of a promising career and during our talk she illustrates for us the diversity and the politics of Drag performance. We delve deep into discussion about gender roles, the first bio-queen in Pittsburgh, gay marriage, Ru Paul's Drag Show and how to survive bigotry in Belle Vernon.

One small Correction: Shangela is from Texas, not Atlanta. My bad.
