Bunker Projects // Artist Residency

Hi there! Here is a chat with the ladies of Bunker Projects for your listening pleasure! Jesse and Ceci were on hand to discuss the mission of Bunker Projects:

"BUNKER Projects is a residency program and experimental gallery devoted to creating a living laboratory for artists in Pittsburgh. Located at 5106 Penn Avenue's second and third floor, BUNKER Projects is converting a burnt-out apartment into a customized space for artists of all kinds. Participating artists will spend an intensive period living and working on site with living, studio, and gallery spaces. BUNKER residents will be supported to exchange and collaborate with the surrounding neighborhood and take advantage of other Pittsburgh artist resources during their stay."

These ladies are devoted to creating an amazing space for artists to build great things. We chatted in their construction zone—where we saw artists actively creating work amidst the dust. That’s what’s up.

Enjoy this chat an I hope to see you at a few of the cool things going on at Bunker Projects this month including...

March 7: unblurred- Bizarre style show with works on view and for sale by all three current residents Dana Harper, Gabe Kenney and Sam Berner.

March 14: Solo exhibition by Gabe Michael Kenney

March 22: Solo exhibition by Dana Lynn Harper

March 28th & 29th: Spiderman the Musical created by Sam Berner in collaboration with Chris Dinadio and local punk band, Ouis.

The campaign raised $5,500 dollars!

A message from the ladies of Bunker Projects:

Dear Funders,

We would like to take the time to personally thank you for all of your personal contributions. It means so much to us that you pledged your own resources to help launch Bunker Projects. As you all know we are in the final stages of renovating 5106 Penn Ave. Over-all the reconstruction cost $38,000, but it was worth it to bring a beautiful building into the art world. Thanks to all of you we have been able to install and bathroom and kitchen, all in the period of this campaign! Right now we are currently working on installing lighting and all those other fun details that will make Bunker Projects a functional, homey space for many resident artists to come!

We look forward to both welcoming you to Bunker Projects for the special events, dinners and celebrations planned for you as funders and also to the 2014 program that you help to launch! You will hear from us shortly with more details about your perks and the exact dates for these events. Until then, look out for your first issue of our e-newsletter next month and watch things evolve on our blog page atwww.bunkerprojects.org or on faceboook (BUNKERprojects) or on twitter (@bunkerprojects).
Much love,
— Jessie, Abbagail, Cecilia
