I started writing this while sitting in the convention center in downtown Pittsburgh while vending at Bitchcraft Fair—surrounded by 199 other witchy and occult flavored entrepreneurs. A friend popped in and took over my table, giving me a small reprieve.
While vending is tough (on the feet, in the upfront-costs department, on the introvert who thrives on working alone, etc) it is always incredibly lovely to meet people at events like this. I’m not just talking about the people who buy things either (but yes, you are amazing!). It’s the other vendors who are kind enough to come over and introduce themselves and share compliments, the shy people who open up about their passion for art, tarot, and video games, the parents with sleepy kids in strollers enjoying a minor adventure, the couples ranging from awkward teenagers to relaxed long term partners, the mothers and grown daughters bonding over gift shopping and cold brew.
I got to meet you after you drove all the way from Morgantown, Charleroi, Greensburg, Wexofrd, Gibsonia, or near Punxsutawney.
You were all so nice! Thank you for keeping me company today.
By the time you receive this it will be the fall equinox. As we slip into the dark season I will begin hibernating. Hunkered down in the studio, I will work on drawings and regain my energy. Like a car I have be refueled and the act of drawing is my gasoline.
Before I go though, I just wanted to say thank you :)
I’ve included a little slice of a Michael Myers drawing I started on Twitch Stream. During Inktober I’ll be dedicating drawings to my fav slasher movies.
Thanks for Reading // Happy Fall!
